“The whole earth will acknowledge the LORD and return to him.” — Psalm 22:27
Reflections: Did you know Jesus died quoting scripture?
⠀⠀
And the scripture he quoted was all about victory!
⠀⠀
You see, when everything seemed lost, and it looked liked darkness had won … Jesus pointed us to a ray of hope in the final words he said on the cross. The problem is, most of us miss his declaration of victory.
⠀⠀
Let me explain.
⠀⠀
Most of us know that Jesus asked; “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me”, as he hung on the cross, and we usually think he was just crying out to God—but he was actually quoting Psalm 22.
⠀⠀
And Psalm 22 actually predicts that nations of people will one day return to the Lord. One part even says; “For royal power belongs to the LORD. He rules all the nations.” It declares victory even in the darkest storm!
⠀⠀
And, the Hebrew word we translate as “forsaken” in Psalm 22, is “azab” (עזב pronounced aw-zab), which comes from a root that also means “to set free”. And isn’t that true for us! Because Jesus was forsaken, we have been set free!
⠀⠀
As one preacher says, “everything was finished at the cross, so we live in victory”.
⠀⠀
I hope this reminds you that no matter what storm you’re facing … Jesus declares victory for all of us!
