God uses ordinary situations to accomplish extraordinary things. In Esther 6, God’s hand was clearly at work as He orchestrated events to protect His people. He used King Xerxes’ insomnia to bring Mordecai to the forefront and foiled Haman’s plot to destroy the Jews. The event that occurred the night before Haman planned to have Mordecai hung was not a coincidence but rather a sign that God was at work to save His children. As the story unfolds, the king is reminded through the royal records of how Mordecai had previously saved his life but was never rewarded. Moved by this, the king honored Mordecai, further demonstrating God’s sovereignty and provision in even the smallest details of our lives.
